GMR Group is exploring airport-concession opportunities in West Asia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and South-East Asia as it seeks to expand its international aviation platform.
The group currently operates six airports in India and an airport in Indonesia, is developing a project in Greece and has recently commenced operations at Bhogapuram airport in Andhra Pradesh.
Its strategy extends beyond airport operations to duty-free retail, cargo, food and beverage, operations and maintenance contracts and other airport-linked services intended to diversify revenue.
GMR said its Indian airports handled 114.6 million passengers in 2025-26, representing approximately 25.6 per cent of domestic and 33.9 per cent of international passenger traffic in India. It reported consolidated profit after tax of Rs 472 crore after a loss in the previous year.
The expansion plans are company-supplied and remain exploratory. Their viability will depend on concession terms, country risk, financing, traffic forecasts, regulatory approvals and the ability to transfer non-aeronautical revenue models across markets.
