French building-materials company Saint-Gobain plans to expand its Indian manufacturing network from 82 facilities to at least 100 over the next five years.
The company expects investment in gypsum, insulation, glass wool, stone wool, core glass capacity and construction chemicals as demand grows for energy-efficient building materials.
Saint-Gobain India chief executive Sreedhar N said the Indian business generates close to EUR 2 billion in revenue, ranks among the group’s five largest profit centres and is targeted to triple revenue over the next decade.
The Indian network also serves export markets including Southeast Asia and Australia. The plan reflects confidence in future construction and infrastructure demand, much of which will arise from built space yet to be developed.
The plant and revenue goals are company projections. Their delivery will depend on site selection, capital allocation, approvals, construction cycles, energy and raw-material costs, building standards and verified market demand for higher-performance products.
