Mumbai Police have arrested Orris Infrastructure Private Limited Managing Director Amit Gupta in a case registered on a complaint by Godrej Properties Limited involving allegations of forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy.
The allegations relate to the Godrej Air project in Sector 85, Gurugram, in which Godrej Properties and Orris were development partners.
Gupta was arrested in Amritsar in connection with an FIR registered at Vikhroli police station on March 17, 2026. He was remanded in police custody until August 27, according to officials.
Godrej Properties has alleged that unauthorised changes were made to the limited-liability partnership’s statutory records filed with the Registrar of Companies through false documents.
The complaint refers to a Form 3 filed on January 14, 2026. It alleges that Godrej Properties’ nominated partner was removed without authorisation, another person was shown as a partner and the company’s 37.5 per cent interest in the partnership was purportedly transferred.
The FIR invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita dealing with forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, use of forged documents and criminal conspiracy. These remain allegations and will be tested through investigation and judicial proceedings.
Orris had not issued an immediate public response to the arrest. Gurugram Police are also seeking Gupta in a separate case registered at Kherki Daula police station in July over a land-collaboration dispute.
The arrest has renewed attention on around 1,650 buyers of Orris’ Greenopolis project in Gurugram who say they have awaited possession for years after paying substantial amounts. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier investigated Orris Infrastructure and its directors in an alleged real-estate fraud matter.
The case presents corporate-governance, project-delivery and homebuyer-protection risks extending beyond the immediate criminal allegations. Key evidence will include authenticated partnership records, digital filing trails, board and partner authorisations, transaction documents and the ultimate beneficial ownership of any disputed interest.
