Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for artificial-intelligence literacy to become part of a broader education agenda combining basic learning, digital skills, values and employability.
In an open letter ahead of International Literacy Day on September 8, he said AI, deep technology and other emerging fields were creating opportunities in education, healthcare, agriculture, industry and employment.
Adityanath cited the proposed AI City ecosystem in Lucknow and drone and unmanned-aerial-vehicle development in Kanpur as foundations for the state’s technological ambitions. He also referred to Operation Kayakalp, Mission Prerna, the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana and skill-development programmes.
The Chief Minister said education should develop discipline, confidence, curiosity and social responsibility and appealed to citizens to help people who remain deprived of basic literacy.
AI literacy will require more than access to tools. Effective implementation needs age-appropriate curricula, trained teachers, reliable connectivity, local-language resources, safeguards against misinformation and bias, and measurable improvement in learning and employment outcomes without weakening basic reading and numeracy.
