State-owned oil companies have raised aviation turbine fuel prices by 5.46 per cent and increased the price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 9.50 following changes in international benchmarks and exchange rates.
ATF for domestic airlines increased by Rs 6.28 per litre to Rs 121.28 per litre. The latest revision follows a Rs 5-per-litre increase on August 1 and adds to airline costs, with fuel accounting for up to 40 per cent of operating expenditure.
Commercial LPG increased from Rs 2,738 to Rs 2,747.50 per cylinder, while the five-kilogram market-priced cylinder rose from Rs 762 to Rs 764.
The increase follows reductions of Rs 183.50 in July and Rs 192 in August after prices had climbed sharply during the West Asia crisis. Domestic household LPG remains unchanged at Rs 942 per 14.2-kilogram cylinder, while petrol and diesel prices also remain unchanged.
Fuel revisions vary by jurisdiction because of local taxation. The ATF increase may affect airline margins, fares and route economics, while the commercial LPG adjustment will influence hotels, restaurants and other institutional users.
