Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has directed agencies to strengthen monitoring of polluting industries and improve roads, stormwater drains, waste management and green cover in Rajasthan Udyog Nagar in Jahangirpuri.
The minister asked the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation to ensure that road and drainage projects follow approved designs and technical standards, with audits at both design and execution stages.
Officials were directed to establish regular drain cleaning and maintenance, regulate industrial wastewater and provide scientifically designed inspection chambers at inflow and outlet points.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee was asked to act against violations and unscientific waste treatment. The minister specifically flagged open burning of wires because of its potential air-pollution and environmental impact.
A joint survey by the Forest Department and local representatives will identify areas for plantation and expansion of green cover.
The directions combine infrastructure and enforcement, but outcomes will depend on source-level effluent mapping, sampling frequency, public disclosure of violations, safe hazardous-waste channels and correction of any improper connections between industrial discharge and stormwater drains.
